The aftermath of Angelina Jolie’s shocking split from Brad Pitt hasn’t exactly been a scene out of a horror film, according to another one of the actress’ high-profile exes.
Actor Billy Bob Thornton, who was married to Jolie from 2000 to 2003, says his former flame is holding up well following her highly publicized breakup with Pitt after 12 years together.
“She’s seems, you know, OK to me when I talk to (her),” he told Entertainment Tonight at a press event for his new movie “Bad Santa 2” over the weekend. “I don’t talk to her that often though.”
Jolie and Pitt remain squarely in the spotlight two months after they rocked the entertainment world with news of their split.
The actress filed for divorce in September, citing irreconcilable differences and requesting full physical custody of their six children together. The former couple agreed to a custody arrangement last week in which the kids will continue living with Jolie, but Pitt will receive therapeutic visits.
Pitt was also cleared in an investigation by the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services looking into claims that he turned abusive toward one of his kids during a recent flight.
And while Thornton, 61, suggested Jolie remains in good spirits despite the swirling drama, the actor says he tries not to get too involved with the personal matters of others.
“When people are going through their trials and tribulations I try to leave them alone unless they want to talk to me,” he told ET. “In other words, I figure it’s none of my business. Unless someone makes it my business, it’s none of my business.”
Thornton’s comments come shortly after he told GQ that he didn’t feel adequate during his relationship with Jolie.
“I never felt like I was good enough for her,” he told the magazine in a profile published last week.
