British supermodel Agyness Deyn admitted to the Guardian on Sunday that she’s pretended to be six years younger than her actual age for most of her career.
Deyn, who has appeared on the cover of Vogue and has lent her face to countless fashion brands copped to being 29 instead of 23.
She said she lied because she began modeling at 18, making her a relative ancient compared to other newcomers to the industry.
After signing with a New York agent at the ripe old age of 24, she admitted she “knocked off a few years.”
The model’s advanced age isn’t news to some.
In 2007, the Brit was featured in an article in New York magazine that claimed she was born in 1989.
A Facebook group full of former classmates was created in response called “Agyness Deyn You’re Not 18,” according to the Daily Mail.
The group even took issue with the model’s exotic name — Deyn was actually born with the moniker Laura Hollins.
“This group is for all those who realize that supermodel Agyness Deyn, AKA Laura Hollins, is not 18, or 21 or any of the other ages she claims to be. We know people who went to school with her and will verify she is 24,” the group said.
Now she’s coming clean: The fine-boned beauty hasn’t been 23 in quite some time — and she’s okay with it.
“It got really complicated – when personal and work collide,” she said. “[My best friend\\] was like: ‘But it looks like I started being friends with you when you were four or something!'”
