Dido finally addresses rumours she named her son Stan after Eminem song

She's insisted it's nothing to do with her duet with the Detroit rapper

Dido has named her son Stan but the pop singer insists it’s not because of her hit song with Eminem.

The star lent her vocals to the 2000 track, remixing lyrics from her solo single ‘Thank You’. ‘Stan’ reached number one in twelve countries upon its release and was nominated for a variety of awards, including ‘Best Song’ at the MTV EMA’s.

While Dido’s son Stanley was born back in 2011, the singer had never addressed rumours that he was named after the iconic song. Speaking on ITV’s Lorraine, she insisted her son’s name has “nothing to do with the song”. She claims she loved the name ever since she was young.

“When I was a teenager, I was with my mate, I remember sitting on a wall, and they were like, ‘What are you going to call your kid?’ and I was like, “Stanley,” she said.

“Bizarrely, when I met my husband, that was the name that was his favourite for different reasons.”

Meanwhile, Dido is gearing up to release her first new album in six years. ‘Still On My Mind’ marks her fifth LP and is due for release on March 8.
