An Exclusive Interview With Everyone's Favourite YTV PJ Phil Guerrero

We sat down with the man himself and have the podcast to prove it.

A few months ago when I wrote an article about the YTV Pjs, I had no idea it would go viral. I thought I was writing a fairly niche blog post which people would read, and think, "yeah, I remember those guys" and then proceed to look at a more current article on the site, like what the best hot dog stands in the city are (because apparently hot dogs are a big thing now). But the narrative didn't exactly pan out like that.

I realized that I wasn't alone in wondering whatever happened to some of the childhood hosts we grew up with. Since there's no VH1 "Where Are They Now" for Canadian TV hosts, my friend Momin Qureshi, a reporter for Toronto radio station 680News, and I thought it would be an interesting idea to talk to PJ Phil himself, and find out what he's been up to.

Phil Guerrero, a.k.a. Pj Phil is probably the guy you remember most vividly when going back into the recesses of your mind and digging up those lazy afterschool hours where you'd sit in front of the TV to watch Sailor Moon or Uh Oh. There are plenty of interviews with him available on different social medias, but nothing does it quite like this podcast. We wanted to sit down with him and really get to know what his 90s TV experience was like, and what he did during those years that he was kind of M.I.A. from the city. Oh yeah, and we also wanted to meet our childhood hero.

Listen below to Phil open up about what it was like being one of the most loved Canadian tv hosts (who still gets recognized on a daily basis), and how he deals with fans and what he hopes to do in the future.

If you'd like to see other Toronto hosts/celebs interviewed feel free to contact me via Twitter. The dream of the 90s is alive and well in Toronto and I want to keep it that way!

P.S. Phil has a theory on the resurgence of 90s EVERYTHING and why it's so popular. Listen and find out!
