A seaside town just over two hours from London has been named the UK's 'laid back capital' making it the perfect place to visit if you want a break from the chaos of the city. There are plenty of beaches nearby and one has been ranked as one of the best beaches in the world.

The Dorset spot has been named the UK’s Zen Capital and has a super high score for life satisfaction. The residents of Bournemouth according to data, are the most chilled-out in the country.

According to Supplement Place the seaside town has a zen rating of 7.72/10, with the sea air keeping locals calm. It came top in the country for happiness, while at the same time scoring in the bottom five for anxiety levels.

It's no surprise that the beach helped the area score so well. According to TripAdvisor, Bournemouth Beach is the best in the country.

You can soak up expansive views of the English channel from the sand and even hire multi coloured beach huts along the shore. The infamous old-fashioned Victorian pier also adds to the waterfront spot’s atmosphere.

It is labelled an 'unmissable' part of the town. You’ll find an amusement arcade, variety theatre, cafe and more here.

The beach is also located in a perfect spot as it is nearby to the town centre, with plenty of shops, restaurants and bars. It is a great destination for a day trip from London thanks to the frequent train service from London Waterloo, which can get you to Bournemouth in as little as one hour and 47 minutes.
