Geography



It is located between longitudes 2°33' and 6°24' east and latitudes 49°30' and 51°30' north. The coastal plain in the northwest and the central plateau both fall under the umbrella of the Anglo-Belgian Basin, while the Ardennes uplands in the southeast are a part of the Hercynian orogenic belt. At Belgian Lorraine, the southernmost point of Belgium, the Paris Basin extends into a small fourth region. The Hercynian orogenic belt of mountain ranges, which extends from western Ireland into Germany, includes the Ardennes region. Kempenland has pastureland and is home to several industrial businesses.
