In today’s edition of the Recruiting Roundup, we’ll touch on a five-star cornerback committed to Purdue that Michigan is pursuing, a top-100 2025 linebacker who Michigan just hosted on a visit, and a top-100 2026 local athlete that returned to Ann Arbor for the spring game.

Let’s get into it.

Michigan pursuing five-star cornerback committed to Purdue

Tarrion Grant, a top-50 five-star 2025 cornerback, rated as the sixth-best cornerback in his class, committed to Purdue back in January.

In an interview with The Wolverine’s Zach Libby ($), Grant said that he’s still “100 locked in with my decision,” but there are still a lot of places he hasn’t seen yet. The talented defensive back that he wants to come to Ann Arbor and talk to Michigan’s new defensive backs coach, who he already has a connection with.

“I would just like to look at the facilities and talk to Coach Lamar (Morgan),” Grant said. “He basically just calls, text me and my mom mom every day...it’s a good relationship. We’ve been building a good bond with each other. Him and my mom, (too). He cares for his players a lot. He wants what’s best for you.”

Grant also acknowledged the talent Michigan has had and currently has in their defensive backs room, with Mike Sainristil just getting drafted and Will Johnson expected to be one of the best corners in college football next season.

“(Winning the playoff) was big,” Grant said. “That was big for them in that program. (Their defensive backs are) shut down. (Sainristil) just got drafted. They have some ballers at DB. It would be crazy. Me on one side, Will Johnson on the other. I think I would fit good in the defense.”

Getting defensive backs drafted has to be appealing to Grant. We’ll keep you updated as Michigan tries to swing his commitment.

Top-100 four-star 2025 linebacker talks Michigan visit, set to come back for official visit

Nathaniel Owusu-Boateng, one of the best available linebackers in the 2025 class, recently visited Michigan, saying on X that he’ll be back in June for an official visit.

On the 247 Composite, the four-star IMG Academy linebacker is rated as 69th-best player in his class and the ninth-best linebacker. Speaking about the visit with The Wolverine’s E.J. Holland ($), Owusu-Boateng mentioned that it was great to meet the coaches and get a look at the program.

“It was definitely a great time for me and my family,” Owusu-Boateng said. “Just to be out in Ann Arbor, to talk to Coach BJ (Brian Jean-Mary), to meet Coach Wink (Martindale) and just seeing how the program operates how they care about all the little things was great. That’s really what I liked about the visit.”

Owusu-Boateng said that Michigan’s new head coach Sherrone Moore came to IMG Academy to visit him in January. The prospect said it was great to see him again, and continue to build a bond with Jean-Mary.

“I was talking to Coach BJ when he was at Tennessee,” Owusu-Boateng said. “When he transferred over to Michigan, it wasn’t a lost relationship. It just continued. Knowing the program that Michigan is and that they put 13 guys in the draft is a great thing. The program is historical and special. And Coach BJ is my guy for sure.”

Owusu-Boateng, who Holland said will be back for his official on June 21, seems to be high on the Wolverines.

“Now that I’ve gone to Michigan and I’ve pondered on this visit, they definitely stand out for sure,” Owusu-Boateng said. “I feel like I saw what I needed to see on my unofficial. To go back for my official visit will be a cherry on top.”

2026 four-star in-state athlete speaks after attending spring game

Among the dozens of recruits who came to Ann Arbor in November to watch Michigan beat Ohio State for the third consecutive season was C.J. Sadler, who was back on campus for the spring game last month.

“Spring was good,” Sadler said to Libby with The Wolverine ($). “With the new coaching staff up there, not really new, but a couple of new guys there. It’s always like family. When I go to Michigan, man, it’s good.

On the 247 Composite, the Detroit native who plays high school ball at Cass Tech is rated 89th in his class, sixth among athletes, and first among 2026 recruits from the state of Michigan.

On the visit, Sadler got the chance to talk to wide receivers coach Ron Bellamy, who he knew from Bellamy’s tenure at West Bloomfield.

“Coach Bellamy is a good coach, man,” Sadler said. “State champion as a head coach, man. Great leader, great mentor. Great man. Those are the type of guys I want to be around.”

Sadler mentioned that he plans to be back on campus for the annual BBQ at the Big House in July. He also loves the familiarity he feels at Michigan, along with the tight-knit players and staff.

“It’s just like family, man,” Sadler said. “Guys take care of you. Kind of like every school I go to, they treat me like a priority. You just got to feel it. It just has to feel real. You just got to feel like you love it.”
