“Change education. Educate for change.” This is the aim of the Women's Forum for the Economy & Society (A Publicis Groupe company) at the Global Meeting of this year.
Today was the 1st day and Women’s Forum managed to gather together amazing role models with different backgrounds, coming from all over the world. They were radiating a contagious energy, sharing some inspiring life stories and great ideas to progress towards a brighter future.
Some warning:
- in today’s context of multiple crisis and wars women empowerment is challenged even more, gender fatigue is lurking and bias and stereotypes are on the rise
- young generations take for granted the progress that has been made on the women’s condition
Some take away that stick to my mind at the end of a full day:
- education is a great equilazer of the human conditions
- lack of education for girls not only that takes away a fundamental human right, but it’s a loss for the society (socially, economically, politically)
- by improving women’s condition we improve the children’s condition as women are the main care giver
- by enabling financial independence to women we improve economies
- things don’t change over night because of some actions or initiatives, it takes time and persistence to see sustainable results, we shall continue our efforts
What to look for in our actions:
- act on the culture barriers in the society: human rights education, peace education (eliminating violence), bias education, empowerment education, health and sexual education, etc.
- deal with the causes to create safe places
- measure the progress through KPIs, show transparency and accountability on the results to enable real progress
Today there were serious discussions, genuine emotions shared, but also funny debates, laughter and hope!
Can’t wait for tomorrow and then to put in action some of the ideas. Thank you Renault Group for this amazing opportunity!
