SGA are excited to introduce our NSW Industry Manager, Trent Seymour! ✨ Get to know Trent! What does a typical day look like in your role? Currently, no two days are the same which I find very enjoyable and exciting! The Industry Team and I are working on a lot of Tenders at the moment, so my days are a lot of reading and liaising with our engineering team and clients to tailor solutions that best position the business and client. What types of projects do you enjoy working on the most? I really enjoy large-scale industrial machinery and manufacturing operations. I completed my apprenticeship in a winery bottling line and abattoir, so I have always found these systems interesting. What would we most likely find you doing on the weekend? My wife and kids and I live a pretty active life, winter weekends are spent at football ovals or long walks, and anything resembling warm weather you’ll find us enjoying the beach, swimming, fishing etc.. I’m a very bad surfer but really enjoy it. What has been your favourite moment while working at SGA? It’s hard to pick just 1 moment out of the whole 4 weeks, I'd have to say getting to know the team and meet the wonderful people who work here. Describe SGA in one word? Evolving If you would like to get in contact with the SGA Team, please contact us via automation@safegroup.com.au 📩 #SAFEgroupAutomation #SGA #MeetTheTeam #newrecruit #expansion #NSWIndustry

Have you ever pulled a “yard dog”? Well, recently I did. But it’s not what you might think! A yard dog is what we call the vehicle we use in our service yards to bring swap bodies and trailers to the gates for loading or unloading and then pull them away again afterwards. I didn’t pull the heavy yard vehicle alone, of course. I was part of a strong team of DACHSER apprentices. What an exciting feeling it is to collaboratively make the seemingly impossible possible. For me, that’s the definition of teamwork. Fittingly, “Teamwork is Dreamwork” was the theme of our most recent MESSAGE! event, held at the Rheine logistics center. At MESSAGE!, our apprentices take center stage at a great networking event with a ton of motivation and positive energy. The apprentices compete in various challenges involving exercise, creative and innovative thinking, logistics knowledge, and communication. Even though there’s only one winning team at the end, it’s all about creating a sense of togetherness. My own training years lie a while back. When I was at college or in my first job, I would have loved to have experienced something like MESSAGE! That’s why I’m even more excited now, as CEO, to be able to meet these bright career starters and answer their questions—whether about hydrogen-powered trucks or what soccer team I root for. To sum it up: I’m really impressed with how insightful the questions were and how deeply these young people engage with life, society, and their work. Today, it fills me with joy to see young people with a thirst for action grow into professionals who will shape the logistics of the future. Keep up the good work and go your own way! #traineeship #logistics #teamwork

#fridaymotivation Proud mum moment last week when my eldest graduated from the University of Derby with a BEeng (Hons) Degree in Engineering with Motorsport. The question is now of course, what's next? I remember clearly my own uncertainty around taking this first big step out of full-time education. The excitement and the nerves. I was hugely envious of those who I thought had their path 'sorted', like becoming a doctor or a lawyer. I came out of Uni with a BA Hons in Business Studies, and very little clue what to do with it. On a career assessment, I'd clearly ticked that I liked working with numbers and outdoors, because they recommended I become either an accountant or a landscape gardener. So, with little other idea, and living in Nottingham at the time, I spotted a job at Mansfield Brewery (now long gone) for a junior management accountant. In hindsight, I was clearly very underqualified for the role, but got on so well with the MD that they rang me back a few weeks later to offer me a more suitable graduate position. I'm hugely grateful to them for giving me that first step in my career. How did you get your first 'proper' job? Now, as it turns out, accountancy really wasn't for me, but it was all about getting the ball rolling. And that is the advice I would pass on to my son (if he would listen 😉, and all the other graduates now venturing out into the world of work. Start somewhere, find what you love doing, and do more of that if and when you can. What advice would you give yourself if you were starting out again now? #graduate #derbygrad #newbeginnings
