We simply don't have the luxury not to energetically pursue domestic mining projects right now to build the massively expanded supply chains we need tomorrow. According to the International Energy Agency, annual copper demand alone is projected by 2050 to reach a level equal to all the copper consumed in the world between 1900 and 2021.

Like many countries, provincial/state governments' are not consistent when it come to how industry stakeholders view their attractiveness for mining in said region. No surprise there, as no country is consistent east to west/north to south. All having unique strengths, weaknesses, etc. In line with global trends, our British Columbia is making moves to standout and meet the opportunities critical minerals is promising - a critical minerals strategy for BC is afoot. We think a good place to start framing such a strategy would be to check with the people on the ground - mining companies in BC. Documenting their input here, we some conclusions of our own. Inline with our CEO John McKenzie's stated mandate to use TMX Group's leadership to advocate for our stakeholders, encouraging federal/provincial governments to make Canada's capital markets better; our government and public affairs team has been rather busy. Special thanks to Ariane Bourassa from that team for pushing this latest example forward.
