🤖 This year’s Build your Robot internship program challenge seemed straightforward for the interns at our STRATEC site in Romania. In the end, it proved to be easy to understand, but hard to master: Designing and building a centrifuge may look like a simple undertaking, but actually making it work well in a small time frame is no small feat. Fortunately, a great team of interns came together to make it happen. From the concept to the end-of-summer demo, they worked hard and their dedication showed in every aspect of the machine. The final product is a customizable centrifuge with wireless control, dubbed the MIXer. It allows the user to edit ramping and plateau profiles plus mechanical settings like vial angles and offsets. It’s also smart enough to know when it’s overloaded or when the vials are improperly mounted, ensuring laboratory safety.
