Description
The little hop clover has an overgrown stem that can reach a length of up to 40 cm, but is not able to hold upright. From the main stem shoots into the air up to 20 cm long shoots, at the top of which develop yellow flowers, grouped in ovate to round inflorescences, consisting of 5 to 15 individual flowers. The leaves consist of three erratically ovate and serrated leaflets at the apex.
It is spread on dry meadows and barren slopes of Europe, all the way to the Caucasus.
The little hop clover is the national symbol of Ireland.
