Variation in 3D Sinus Shape

My primary research projects investigate maxillary sinus & nasal cavity variation. While most research on sinus variation has focused on volume alone (size), my colleague Scott Maddux and I were the first to apply 3D geometrics to investigate sinus shape. Using this approach, we are better able to discern how the surrounding craniofacial structures, and climatic pressures such as temperature and humidity, affect the nasal cavity and maxillary sinuses.

This research has been published in the American Journal of Physical Anthropology and the Anatomical Record, and presented at multiple conferences.
