Update:  Galareka Harrison, the former U of A student who stabbed her roommate, has had her court date pushed back to August.

According to court officials the new hearing date is August 26.  Harrison was expected in court today to appeal for a shorter sentence.

Harrison was found guilty of murder after killing her roommate five years ago.  A jury convicted her of stabbing Mia Henderson as she slept in the U of A dorm room the two shared.  Both were 18 at the time.  She was sentenced to life in prison, without parole.

She and her new attorney are heading back to court to try to get that sentence reduced. She argues her original attorneys did not give a good enough defense.

Harrison's new attorney says they did not tell the judge about severe problems she faced in her family life that made her 'unprepared for college.'
