Niagara Falls floral clock gets new look

Niagara Parks is ensuring that tourists get a whole new experience when it comes to telling time at one of their greatest landmarks.
The Niagara Parks horticultural team has been (literally) working around the clock. That is, the famous Floral Clock, originally built in 1950 and located north of the Botanical Gardens.
In a release, Niagara Parks said that “the design of the Floral Clock this year was inspired by our sense of community.”
The latest intricate design includes nearly 20,000 carpet bedding plants found in their gardens.
“The red hearts symbolize connection and compassion for one another, while the surrounding yellow hues represent Niagara’s #CrushTheCurve initiative and support for all essential workers.”
The designs on the face of the Floral Clock are changed twice each year with the latest finally completed two days ago.

The planted face of the Floral Clock is maintained by Niagara Parks horticulture staff, while the mechanism inside is kept in working order by Ontario Power Generation.
That tiny tower at the back of the clock houses Westminster chimes that greet visitors every quarter hour.
