Ryan Gosling: Clooney is a practical joker

George Clooney co-starred with William H Macy in Welcome To Collinwood

Ryan Gosling was the butt of George Clooney’s practical jokes on set.

The Hollywood pair filmed The Ides of March earlier this year, which is due for release in late 2011.

Ryan said that George is well known for his high jinx activities, which he personally became privy to. The 30-year-old star revealed in an interview with Extra that the American actor cunningly used “water spray” on set in a bid to garner laughs.

“He will come up to you and tell you something very serious, and then you walk away and you realise your pants are wet,” he laughed.

“He’s had like an Evian spray bottle. He’s been spraying your crotch the whole time.”

Practical jokes aside, Ryan insists it is still difficult to work with George, who is considered one of the most handsome men in Hollywood.

The actor, who is famed for his roles in The Notebook and Blue Valentine, says that George’s all round charm was sometimes intimidating.

“He’s hard to be around because he’s so handsome, charming, smart, unique, funny. He’s all those things. It’s pretty depressing,” Ryan said in jest.

George also directed and wrote the screenplay for the film, which is an adaptation of Broadway play Farragut North.
