Tatu 'lesbian' says she wouldn't accept her son if he was gay

The singer says that she wants her son to be a “real man” because "God created man for procreation".

Cast your minds back to 2002 when Russian 'lesbians' t.A.T.u released single "All The Things She Said".

In its music video, Yulia Volkova and Lena Katina, wearing school girl uniforms, cavorted in the rain, kissing. A 2003 documentary, Anatomy of t. A. T. u, revealed that neither of them were gay, although both spoke out in support of the LGBT community.

"Our slogan is to love and it's not important whom to love," said Volkova in 2006. "We want to say that a boy can love a boy and a girl can love a girl. If all people would love each other, it would be easier to live in this world. If people are led by hatred and evil, nothing good would happen from this."

However, Volkova has now revealed that her support for gay rights have since waned and says she would not accept her son if her were gay.

"Yes, I would condemn him, because I believe that a real man must be a real man," she said. "God created man for procreation, it is the nature. The man for me is the support, the strength of... I won't accept a gay son."

She was quick to add that her views aren’t at odds with her previous work; lesbians are a more acceptable form of sexuality than gay men, she claims, because women are "aesthetically nicer".

"Two girls together - not the same thing as the two men together," she continued. "It seems to me that lesbians look aesthetically much nicer than two men holding their hands or kissing."

But, she cries, she isn’t homophobic. After all, there are worst things to be than gay, she says, like being a "murderer or drug addict".

She has many gay friends; she just doesn’t want her son to be gay.

"I want to say that I'm not against gays, I just want my son to be a real man, not a fag," she said on a Russian television show. "I have many gay friends. I believe that being gay is all still better than murderers, thieves or drug addicts. If you choose out of all this, being gay a little better than the rest."

Russia’s current anti-gay laws would have been likely to have forbidden t.A.T.u’s music video and any talk of lesbianism.

The legislation bans the circulation and distribution of "propaganda of non-traditional sexual relations" among minors.
