Description ²

• Flower: White bell shaped
• Leaves: evergreen, alternately arranged, 3-5 leaves at ends of slender branches, ¾-1¾ inches long, 1/3-1 inch wide, oval to somewhat paddle-shaped, very shiny on upper surface
• Fruit/Seed: bright red to purplish berry-like capsule, ¼-1/3 in diameter
• Height: 2-6 inches
• Flowering: July - August
• Habitat: dry coniferous forest, mixed woodlands
