Location Demographics

Castle Hill is an idyllic suburb located in the Hills District region of Sydney. With lush greenery and vast reserves surrounding it, the suburb is perfect for those who appreciate a peaceful lifestyle. The suburb is around 33kms north-west of Sydney’s Central Business District and part of the Hills Shire and Hornsby Shire. There are a number of local landmarks and heritage-listed sites such as the Castle Hill Heritage Park and the St Paul’s Anglican Church.

As a thriving residential and commercial hub, students, retirees, professionals and families have moved comfortably and feel right at home. The 2021 Census has calculated close to 40,900 people residing at Castle Hill and the median age is 42 years old. In line with the data collected by the Australian Bureau of Statistics, the number of families is estimated to reach around 11,500 while established private dwellings are at 14,300.

Travel & Infrastructure

The area has great public transport connections, with buses and the new Metro Northwest rapid transit line running regularly. The Castle Hill Station, which has two platforms, was built as part of the Sydney Metro Northwest project and is operated by Metro Trains Sydney. Drivers can take the M2 Motorway to get into the city centre quickly. The Hills Shire Council has put forward a plan for high density residential development in the area, with potential for 25,500 extra dwellings and 57,800 extra jobs.

Shopping

Castle Towers is a great place to shop, with plenty of stylish brands and stores. The Castle Mall Shopping Centre is just a short walking distance away, with more shops, supermarkets and local services. If you need homeware items, you can find electronics, appliances, furniture and decor at the HomeCo. Hills Shopping Mall on Victoria Avenue. Alternatively, the Hillside Hotel has American-themed cuisine and bands and DJs playing live music.

Schools & Recreation

Castle High School and Castle Hill Public School are both less than 2kms away by car. Furthermore, the Hills Adventist College is within walking distance while both Oakhill College and St Angela’s Primary School are less than a 4km drive. For younger children starting out school, they can attend UnitingCare Wesley Preschool on Showground Road or the Castle Hill Preschool around the corner on Cecil Avenue. Meanwhile, TAFE NSW Castle Hill is a quick 3km trip and the University of Canberra Sydney Hills is right at the town centre, opening more doors for tertiary students with several further education courses.

Castle Hill is a popular destination that proudly has it all with its growing community, welcoming facilities and notable buildings rich with history. You and the family can spend time together at the Museums Discovery Centre visiting multiple exhibits, coming along to the kids’ programs and checking out the monthly events. To get active, have a jump around on the trampolines at Flip Out Castle Hill or take on challenging activities at the Peak Pursuits Sport Complex. There are also fun entertainment options to check out with friends including playing a game at Strike Bowling, taking on the miniature golf course at the Honey Moley Golf Club or catching a movie at Event Cinemas. You may also want to see what outdoor events are on at the Castle Hill Heritage Park and watch a play at the Pavilion Theatre. Get outdoors with your furry friend at the Coolong Reserve with a play area and walking tracks to explore the native plants and wildlife.
