Photograph Signed: "LoLa FaLana" in black felt tip. Color. 5½x8½. Singer, dancer and actress Lola Falana, born Loleltha Elayne Falana in 1942, was nominated for the Tony Award as Best Actress (Musical) in 1975 for Doctor Jazz. A protégé of Dinah Washington, she would later record on Reprise Records, the label owned by Frank Sinatra. Falana got her big break appearing opposite Sammy Davis, Jr. in Golden Boy in 1964. She would later appear in such feature films as A Man Called Adam (1966, her debut), The Klansman (1974) and Lady Cocoa (1975), but Falana was seen more frequently on the small screen, appearing as a series regular on The New Bill Cosby Show, Ben Vereen...Comin' at Ya, Cos and Capitol. She was also seen in in TV specials and was a guest star on a number of series. In 1979,Falana became the highest-paid entertainer in Las Vegas, earning her title, "First Lady of Las Vegas". During her Las Vegas shows, Falana wore a white silk evening gown and performed her signature song, "Whatever Lola Wants, Lola Gets". Pin holes at corners. Cornersand edges lightly worn. Surface defects at center left edge. Light moister spot and adhesive at center right edge. Ink stamps on verso. (No show through). Otherwise, fine condition.
