Item Description
Chesley Bonestell (1888-1986) was a painter, designer and illustrator whose paintings were a major influence on sci-fi art and illustration, helping to inspire the American space program. As such, he was dubbed the "Father of Modern Space Art." Offered here is a large and impressive 27.5x31.5" lithograph on heavy stock paper. Originally painted c. 1948, image appeared in "The Conquest Of Space" published by Viking Press and depicted what scientists then surmised Saturn would look like from its largest moon, Titan. Art has been signed in pencil at lower right by Bonestell and was part of a limited signed edition printed in the 1970s by William Estler, a friend of Bonestell's and a curator of his art. Exc. Comes w/Novagraphics COA. Great space imagery.
