Top Gear's home built BMW 330d for the Britcar 24h endurance race at Silverstone was David among Goliaths in that race and could arguably be hailed as one of Top Gear's greatest episodes.

The car's inclusion in a future GT would be a welcome sight.

Was not a fan of this. I love the Britcar 24, I go most years and was there in '07... aside from the normal cocking about and the Penis/Arse BMW taking one of the Moslers out of contention, Top Gear did nothing to enhance the event and I got the impression they annoyed a lot of people in the pitlane too. It's not like they bought much atmosphere to the Paddock either, at least as far as I saw, it was all closed garages and barriers. When the gadget show went they were welcoming people in to the garage!

Britcar is all about Davids and Goliaths whether it's Mk2 Golfs or Ferraris, Old Escorts or purpose built Aquila CR1's, there are plenty of small teams that work to put a car on the grid, and I would like for Britcar to represented in GT in some fashion - but a more welcome sight would be the winning Duller Motorsport Z4 Coupe, which looked awesome in it's Red Bull livery, or the GT Academy RJN Motorsport 370Z of Lucas Ordonez et al. which competed a couple of times.

Ranting aside, it's a great event, and all UK motorsport fans should attend. For some more insight in to TG's Britcar antics, this is a blog from one of the guys that worked for DJ motorsport who helped Top Gear prepare the car. http://www.djracecars.com/current-projects-top-gear.asp

Technically, a 2003 BMW 330d, but it was built into this race car in 2007.
