No matter how you look at it, this week’s “Survivor: Second Chance” castoff Kelly Wiglesworth is “Survivor” royalty. She was the show’s first runner-up back in 2000, losing the inaugural $1 million prize to Richard Hatch by only one vote. Since Thanksgiving is next week, are Kelly and Richard planning on having Thanksgiving dinner together to reminisce? “Not so much, no. We thought about it, but I think we’ll wait,” Kelly jokes in our podcast Q&A following her ouster.

According to exclusive Gold Derby odds that are derived from the predictions made by contest entrants like you, Kelly’s elimination was a shocker as she only had 20/1 odds (5% chance) of going home Wednesday night. Kelly’s fellow castaways smartly voted her out because of her strong social game and the Season 1 rooting factor that would have likely won her the game.

“That was no secret amongst the other players and it wasn’t a secret to me either,” admits Kelly. “In some ways, I’m surprised they let me get as far as I did. I knew I had a tough road ahead of me and I knew I had a target on my back from the get-go. It was tough.”

Kelly also reveals that she didn’t watch her original season on TV in 2000 and only saw it for the first time a few years ago. “Knowing that I had gone so far and worked so far and lost, and had to be the brunt of Sue’s speech, I didn’t want to relive that again. It was really hard to go through the first time.”

Also in our chat, Kelly addresses her lack of screen time this time around, the major differences between “Survivor” in 2015 and “Survivor” in 2000, and which of her former Borneo tribe mates she’s still in touch with after all these years. Scroll down to listen to our complete Q&A.
