In 1991, with the debut of the film The Greek Labyrinth, the film world discovered Penélope Cruz, a woman of great talent who since then has solidified her career as one of the most prolific actors in Hollywood. Throughout her career, Cruz has been nominated for several Golden Globes and Academy Awards, becoming the first Spanish actor to win an Oscar for best supporting actress in 2009.

All this to say, Penélope Cruz is no stranger to red carpets and is often regarded as one of Hollywood’s best dressed, regardless of the occasion. Among her best outfits is the white organza Chanel dress she wore to the 2023 MET Gala 2023, and it’s necessary to talk about the black Versace dress with a dramatic side slit she wore at the Goya Awards 2017. However, though it’s easy to fall in love with her glamorous outfits, Cruz’s casual side also has a certain je ne sais quoi.

As part of her promotional tour for the film Ferrari, Penelope Cruz appeared at the New York International Film Festival wearing a pair of flared jeans with a matching denim jacket over a white top. This particular Y2K style of denim pants has been very present on the catwalks for the fall-winter 2023 season, with the best examples found in fashion houses like Nina Ricci and Rokh, where we saw them combined with romantic aesthetic blouses and metallic shoes.

As for Cruz’s outfit, the Spanish actor decided to pair her Canadian tuxedo with a pair of black platform sandals—another sartorial nod to the fashion of the early 2000s, and the same elegant presence as always.
