Because No One's Immune to Trends: This Jail Is Changing Jumpsuits After Orange Got "Cool" (It IS the New Black!)

Get this: a news report from a local Michigan station reports that the sheriff at the Saginaw County Jail decided to switch inmate jumpsuits from orange to black-and-white stripes after a certain Netflix show got too trendy. "It's because as you see shows on television, like Orange Is the New Black, some people think it's cool to look like an inmate with wearing all-orange jumpsuits," Sheriff Federspiel said. "We decided that the black-and-white stripes would be the best way to go because it signifies 'jail inmate,' and I don't see people out there wanting to wear black-and-white stripes." "When the lines get blurred between the culture outside the jail and the culture within the jail, I have to do something to redefine those boundaries, because they've been blurred far too often in public culture." But while I'm all about stripes (hello, even stylish birthday-boy Prince George has rocked them), it doesn't sound like the Saginaw guys are so thrilled. "A lot of them have said, 'We don't like wearing black-and-white stripes.' And my response is, 'Too bad. Don't come to jail.'" Valid point, sir, valid point. Does this news strike you as kinda crazy, or do you think it actually
