Here’s How Duchess Camilla Reportedly Feels About the Way The Crown Portrays Her Prince Charles Affair

Duchess Camilla may only have become an actual royal in 2005 when she married Prince Charles, but she’s been a figure in royal drama since they first met and dated back in the ’70s.

The now Duchess of Cornwall and the Prince of Wales seem delightfully happy together when we see them at royal engagements. However, during his marriage to Princess Diana, Camilla was the other woman and, frankly, part of one of the biggest royal scandals of recent times. That drama started to play out on the third season of The Crown and continues into season four when we first meet Lady Diana Spencer and watch her relationship with Charles unfold.

According to a royals source, Duchess Camilla isn't taking her portrayal on the show too seriously. (Actor Emerald Fennell plays her.) “I imagine she’ll be tuning in with a glass of red wine to watch it; she has seen the previous series,” a friend of Duchess Camilla’s told Vanity Fair. “She has a wonderful sense of humor, and this won’t fuss her in the slightest.

“She has watched it, of course she has, and I believe [Charles] has too,” the source continued. “I don’t think she has any real issue with it. Her feeling is very much ‘Never complain, never explain.’”

Not every member of the royal family is taking in new episodes of The Crown, though. “The queen has no desire to watch herself in a fictitious TV program, while Anne has no time for such nonsense,” another royals source told VF, which sounds very on-brand for the monarch and her only daughter, Princess Anne.

But we’d love to be on the What’s App group chat with whichever royals are tuning in this season. If only Duchess Camilla could live-tweet her reactions. How iconic would that be, right?
