Kumachan first appeared as a blow-up mascot in the background of some stages in the arcade game, Fighting Vipers. He was then added into the Sega Saturn port as a playable character.
Design and other characteristics.
Essentially a balloon, Kumachan cannot move any of his body-parts individually and has no actual animations. Instead he moves around by wobbling, spinning or jerking around like a balloon that's been knocked around. Despite this, he does have a full movelist, that borrows from Sanman's movepool, but also has quite a few unique moves of his own.
His lack of animation has the advantage of making it difficult for opponents to tell what he is doing. When his armour is broken, he grows smaller.
Kumachan has an alternate costume/design called Pandachan(which makes him look more like a panda, unsurprisingly). He gained 2 alternate looks in Fighters Megamix, a palm tree modeled after AM2's logo and Mr. Meat, and chunk of cartoon meat with float arms and legs. The Mr. Meat form actually is animated, letting players see what Kumachan's moves actually are.
