Description:
Rare secretary tapering to the top with heavily flamed birch veneer.
The lowest drawer is slightly protruding, typical for the region. The feet follow this shape. Above it we find two more drawers, the writing flap and a head drawer.
Large, dominant key escutcheons, contrasting in blackened wood.
Opening the writing flap reveals the beautiful, architecturally designed interior. The lower drawer is adorned with masonry marquetry. Above it, we find a central compartment with a mirrored back and parquetry on the bottom. This compartment is flanked by ebonised columns and three drawers on top of each other, each with a marked round arch. The veneer here is dark stained birch burl.
The row of drawers above is divided into three parts, the lockable middle drawer has an applied angular roof.
Above the head drawer with compartment division, a multiple stepped cornice decorated with quarter-bar moulding forms the upper end of the piece of furniture.
Condition:
Restored condition, shellac hand polish. Key renewed. All drawers run very well. The piece of furniture is absolutely suitable for everyday use.
