After more than 150 years, Canada struck its last Penny coin in 2012. On May 4, 2012, the Royal Canadian Mint in Winnipeg, Manitoba, struck Canadas last Penny. The Penny cost more than its face value to produce, so the elimination of the Penny was a cost-saving move. Canadas first Penny was made in 1858 during the reign of Queen Victoria.
This is a full roll of 50 2012 Pennies. The roll is a great way to preserve the historic last coin. These coins are identical to those displayed at the Currency Museum of the Bank of Canada in Ottawa.
