Akuma's vitality in Street Fighter 6 revealed by player reports

Akuma is slated to join Street Fighter 6's roster on May 22, along with the upcoming Season 2 balance update. From May 1 until May 6, 2024, players are getting the opportunity to try him early at the "Real Battle Hub" held in Gamagori, Japan.

Unfortunately, no photography or video capture is permitted at the event. Regardless, those in attendance have been feeding the rest of the community snippets of information about the Season 2 update and Akuma.

Something interesting that's been revealed is that Akuma has 9,000 vitality in Street Fighter 6. This means that he'd have the lowest health in the game compared to the current roster, cementing his archetype as a glass cannon.

Most characters in Street Fighter 6 have 10,000 vitality. Since this includes characters like Cammy and Dhalsim, two examples of characters that also tend to be known for their below average stamina values, many were unsure of how the master of the Satsui no Hado could be balanced if he were to also have 10,000 points of life.

As it turns out, Capcom believes that Akuma just wouldn't be Akuma if he didn't have less vitality than most other fighters in Street Fighter. At least this way, it's at least somewhat justified as to why this Shoto seemingly has so many more tools to work with compared to a character like Ryu.

Akuma having the lowest amount of vitality has often been a tradition for the Street Fighter series, though it should be noted that he's often a top tier despite this shortcoming. We'll just have to see how strong he ends up being in the long run.
