This beautiful handmade hole in the barn door quilt dates to the late 1800's. This is a wonderful early americana quilt with hand quilting and a variety of wonderful fabrics.
This quilt has a wonderful collection of early print fabrics, as well as a beautiful pink floral print backing. The over all size of this quilt is 88 X 91.
The condition of this quilt is very good. Especially when you consider it is 120 - 140 years old. Most of the fabrics in this quilt are in remarkably good condition. A few of the blocks and a section of the border has deteriorated fabric, and there are 3 holes as seen in the photos. This would be a perfect project quilt. Although it needs a bit of TLC this quilt is a prime candidate for restoration.
We would suggest having the quilt professionally repaired before hand washing in appropriate detergent. Washing damaged fabrics may result in increased damage. The quilt should be stabilized before cleaning.
This quilt is being sold in "as found" condition. If you have any further questions about the condition of the quilt please contact me.
