Here are some tips on what to look for and what to say away from when looking for fabrics for a roman shade:

Appropriate: medium weight, drapery weight, 54” wide or wider, home décor

Inappropriate: anything that says, “light weight,” “45” wide,” or “quilter’s cotton, silk

Please send me the details of your fabric or direct link so I can ensure that your fabric will be appropriate for your order.

The mounting block is made a 1/2" smaller and the shade the exact width of the window. For the inside mount shades, you should mount the shade flush with the window frame, leaving the shade outside the frame just a hair. That way light doesn't come in from the sides. If you do not intend to mount this flush with the window frame and rather deeper inset the window frame, please let me know as we will need to make the shade a 1/2" smaller.

For inside mount shades - no hardware is needed. Just a couple of 2" long screws that are appropriate for your wall type. These are not included.

For outside mount shades - yes, the hardware will be included.

It is not customary to ship back remaining fabric as we request the bare minimum for your order. If you are wanting any fabric sent back, please arrange it with me ahead of time. If fabric is needed to be shipped back in a separate box this is at the customer expense. If any fabric is requested to be sent back after order has been shipped this is also at the customer's expense.

After we begin production of your order, we cannot offer a full refund. Windows by Melissa will refund the purchase price of the order less the costs incurred or reasonably anticipated to be incurred by us at the time of the cancellation for supplies, shipping, fees and/or contract labor.

We do our best to ensure the exact measurement. Carefully follow the instructions regarding measurement of your windows. Place your order measurements in inches. Because each item is handmade, and because of the physical qualities of some fabrics, the finished product will often not measure exactly as requested by the purchaser. Windows by Melissa guaranties that your finished product will be within 1/2 inch (for Roman shades and valences) or 1 inch (for curtains) of the requested measurements. If your product does not meet this specification, please see the Returns and Alterations section, above.
