Sea otters are one of my favourite animals and it has been a dream of mine to photograph one up close. I have tried to take pictures of sea otters multiple times, however, they were extremely far away and constantly diving for food. I was pleasantly surprised that during my latest attempt that this little guy was very cooperative, just floating around waiting to be photographed.

These creatures were on the brink of extinction not too long ago and due to great conversation efforts, populations have rebounded nicely. Otters are one of the most intelligent animals on the planet and are capable of using primitive tools to open shellfish. If you want to see sea otters in the wild, I recommend visiting Moss Landing in California.
