BENEFITS OF PLANTING JUNCUS EFFUSUS
Juncus effusus, commonly known as common rush or soft rush, is a wetland plant that offers several benefits when planted in suitable environments. Here are some reasons why you may want to consider planting Juncus effusus:
EROSION CONTROL: Juncus effusus has a fibrous root system that can help to stabilize soil and prevent erosion in wetland habitats. This can help to protect the shoreline from erosion and maintain a stable and healthy aquatic environment.
HABITAT CREATION: Juncus effusus provides an ideal habitat for aquatic wildlife, including fish, amphibians, and invertebrates. Its leaves and stems offer shade, shelter, and a source of food for these creatures, contributing to the overall health and biodiversity of the aquatic ecosystem. This can help to support populations of native species and promote healthy ecosystem functioning.
WATER PURIFICATION: Juncus effusus is known for its ability to absorb excess nutrients and pollutants from the water, helping to improve water quality and reduce the risk of environmental pollution. By filtering the water, it helps to maintain a healthy and balanced aquatic ecosystem.
AESTHETICS: Juncus effusus is a visually appealing plant that can add interest and variety to ponds, lakes, and other aquatic habitats. Its attractive, slender stems and light brown seed heads provide a unique and attractive accent, making it a popular choice for ornamental planting.
CRAFTS AND DECORATION: Juncus effusus has been used for centuries by indigenous peoples and cultures around the world to create woven baskets, mats, and other crafts. It is also a popular choice for ornamental decoration, adding a rustic touch to flower arrangements and home decor.
NATIVE SPECIES: Juncus effusus is a native species that is well adapted to the local environment. By planting native species like Juncus effusus, you can help to support the health and resilience of local ecosystems and the wildlife that depend on them.

We don't want you to have any worries about your plant when it ships! We are a fresh to order nursery so we have no stock on the shelf. This is to allow us to provide you with the healthiest plants we possibly can! We collect and send out plants Monday and Tuesday so they won’t get stuck in the mail over the weekend. We label each species of plants individually with their scientific and common name. We fill the excess space in the package with air pillows and packing paper to prevent the plants from receiving damage during shipping.
Carbon Emission Statement:
We carbon-offset by using recycled boxes and packing material from our local area whenever we can, and as much as we can! As a Fresh-To-Order Nursery it's part of the job to try helping ensure that Earth lasts for generations ahead. While providing beautiful plants in these areas also requires taking care of the plants that grow there. Harvesting only occurs on acres pure untouched marsh or wetlands which provide habitats for wildlife, both now and hopefully for many years to come! It is our mission to preserve these areas.
