Montreal is famous for its exterior staircases. They come in all sorts of different forms: straight, bent in the middle, and spiral, in both duplex (two stories) and triplex (three stories) apartment buildings. The explanations as to why they are used are numerous; but the prime one appears to be the necessity in the early 1900s to set residential buildings back a certain distance from the street for a variety of reasons. The exterior staircases enabled landlords to maximize their rental spaces and save on their heating costs as there were no or minimal common areas.
The photograph will be sized to a 4x5 ratio which can then be printed as 4x5", 8x10", 11x14" (with a very slight crop on the long side), and 16"x20". These are all standard sizes for which mats and frames are readily available. Besides printing the image, it can also be used as a background on your computer screen or other device.
Techie stuff: The downloaded image is a jpeg file with the dimensions 4800 x 6000 pixels at 300 dpi. The color space is sRGB. The file can be processed by any print lab (online or local print shop) or at home on a good inkjet printer. If printing at home, a quality paper with the printer set for high quality colour should produce very good results.
