1968 Dodge A100, A Party Everywhere You Go

American, Classics, SUVs  /   /  By Neil J. Helfgot

Forward control pickups or vans came into being post WWII. One could argue about who was the first manufacturer to develop a driver over the front axle design. Some might say Volkswagen, others would say Ford, but the truth of the matter is that many manufacturers came out with similar designs in the 1950’s and early 1960’s. In 1950 Volkswagen had the Type II or Bus, Chevrolet had the Corvair, Ford had the Econoline starting in 1961, and Jeep had a version of a similar design. Even Dodge got into the fray with its own version of a cab over design with its A100. Personally we here at eBay Motors have a bit of an affinity for cool older custom vans and pickups of the cab over design style.

This daily driver has been used for hauling everything from motorcycles and lumber to flea market finds and Christmas trees. When the work week is over, this party animal is setup perfectly for tailgate parties and hollering support for your favorite team. Custom built rails/party shelves designed for tailgating offer six place settings with six built-in drink holders. The back gate with chains is strong enough to support a full BBQ grill (not included) for added attraction and party action.

Whether it is the truck’s eye-popping color, its relatively clean bodywork, or the potential to be different from the typical VW Bus or Ford Econoline pickup, we think the potential speaks volumes. Sometimes the simplicity of hubcaps, a clean appearance, and the right colors are just enough and we hope someone out there will also appreciate the potential this little orange wagon might have for a future owner.
