He may not have touched Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain and it's unlikely he'll work with Hideo Kojima again, but David Hayter could be returning to the franchise that made him famous.

Turns out there's another unofficial Metal Gear project on the cards after the fan-made Shadow Moses project was shut down by Konami.

Shadow Moses, if you remember, was an Unreal Engine 4 remake of the original Metal Gear Solid from the PSOne.

Undeterred, the team behind that project is back with The Fan Legacy: Metal Gear Solid, which is described as a kind of first-person virtual museum with VR support.

Even better news is that Snake actor David Hayter is involved in the project and it will be available for free this May... assuming the lawyers don't get involved.

Here's how the team describes it on Facebook: "The Fan Legacy: Metal Gear Solid is a first-person experience allowing fans the opportunity to revisit some of the most emblematic MGS levels in the form of a virtual museum.

"There will be no need for stealth this time around. The Fan Legacy: Metal Gear Solid will feature many pieces of amazing fan art from devoted lovers of the series and our collaborators.

"As an unofficial, non-profit production, the project is a gift, from the fans, but also addressed to the fans; to share our affection for the seminal franchise."

Fingers crossed they can sneak it out without any legal trouble.
