Derby has been ranked the sixth best place to live in the UK for under 30s.

The city came above regional rivals Nottingham and Leicester in the survey which looked at the cost of living and working, job satisfaction and commuting and happiness levels in general.

Conducted by financial services provider OneFamily, the study also took into account levels of concern regarding job prospects, work-life balance, the local property market and crime.

The survey ranks the UK's towns and cities with over 200,000 residents.

It is based on both the balance of income and costs of living in each place, as well as how residents feel about living there.

Also included in the top ten are Aberdeen, Milton Keynes, Leeds and Swindon.

The top 10 places are:

1. Sunderland

2. Leeds

3. Aberdeen

4. Milton Keynes

5. Liverpool

6. Derby

7. Swindon

8. Leicester

9. York

10. Nottingham

According to the survey, the majority of workers under 25 say they would relocate for increased wages, with nearly half saying they would move for a more affordable cost of living.
