See Monticello's Previously Off-Limits Floors For the First Time

Condé Nast Traveler recently got a sneak preview of the newly restored upper two floors of Monticello, Thomas Jefferson’s historic home in Charlottesville, Virginia. Once restricted to the main floor, visitors can now climb narrow staircases to see family bedrooms, a nursery, a hidden playroom, and a giant domed ballroom. The renovation was possible thanks to a $10 million gift from philanthropist David Rubinstein, who was so happy with the results he donated another $10 million to the foundation.
