Lady Gaga Channeled Her Inner Rockstar With a New Shag Haircut

Not a rockstar girlfriend, just a rockstar.

It never comes as any surprise when Lady Gaga experiments with her look. After all, it's what she's known for (besides, of course, being the pop star of a generation). However, since her Joanne days—excluding her brief Chromatica era—she's become a bit more subtle when changing it up, making all her fans (including us) excited when she does step out of the box.

On October 19, Lady Gaga was spotted out in New York City, leaving a performance with Mick Jagger and The Rolling Stones at the band’s surprise concert for their Hackney Diamonds album. The singer channeled rockstar legends of the '70s with her look, from the styling of her hair to the shoes on her feet.

Although the whole ensemble was divine, our favorite part was the hair. We know this icon loves a retro hairdo—she’s tried both a flippy bob and Audrey Hepburn bangs in just the past few months—and her latest cut channels the era of rock-n-roll with 70s-era shaggy bangs.

The look was a party in the front and in the back. Her bangs were tapered in a crescent formation—grazing her eyebrows on the sides before trending upwards and landing more on her forehead towards the middle. The rest of her hair was cut in a long shag style. She styled it with lots of body, volume, and texture for that Stevie Nicks-esque edge.

Underneath the bangs was quintessential “rockstar girlfriend makeup.” Though, for Gaga, it would be more appropriate just to say rockstar makeup. Her eyes were lined with black eyeliner on both the upper and lower water lines; she blended black eyeshadow in a skinny frame around the already-lined eyes—making them all the more piercing. There was a light touch of edgy bronze shadow on the top of her lids, blended out to her brows, and her lips were classically pink. Of course, jet-black nails finished the look.

Her outfit also served major Mick Jagger energy with a contrasting sequin catsuit. The right side was sleeveless with a red and black checkered design going down to her flared-leg pants. Her left side had a sleeve and was all sequin black, flaring out on both the pants and the arms. The one-piece also had an extremely plunging neckline, which she accessorized with a shiny peacock-like scarf and some necklaces. Finishing off the look with some coordinating rings and platform black shoes.

Now that we have seen Gaga in her rocker era, we can only hope the next album is hardcore rock-n-roll.
