"Guardians of the Galaxy" Actress Karen Gillan Secretly Married Nick Kocher Last Year

Although Karen Gillan lives in the public eye, she’s kept her relationship status private, especially on social media. Based on her Instagram posts from the past few years, the Scottish actress has primarily uploaded photos that promote her acting gigs while mixing in some fashion inspiration content every now and then. In November of 2022, the star gave her followers a glimpse into her personal life by posting a photo of an emerald and diamond ring on her left hand. Then, on February 22, 2023, the Gunpowder Milkshake star threw her fans for a loop by revealing that she’s actually been married for nearly a year. Gillan took to Instagram to share a series of snapshots by Holly Clark Photography from her secret Scottish wedding to Nick Kocher. “Last May… 📸,” she shares.

In the first photo, the Guardians of the Galaxy actress is wearing a strapless Oscar de la Renta ball gown with her hair down while standing in an ornately decorated room. The second snap shows Gillan’s bridesmaids donning burgundy dresses and carrying bouquets of white roses while capturing their reactions to her wedding dress reveal. The final image is of a bagpipe player, which was an important part of their Scottish ceremony. According to People, the groom chose to wear a traditional Scottish kilt for the big day, and the pair exchanged vows at Castle Toward in Scotland. 

The actress’s friends and family were so supportive of her announcement. Gillan’s fellow Thor: Love and Thunder co-star, Pom Klementieff, commented, “💚💚💚.” Another one of her colleagues, Mikaela Mehrizi Hoover from Guardians of the Galaxy—which will premiere on May 5, 2023—shared, “That dress❤️.” The co-creative director of Oscar de la Rena, Fernandez Garcia, even wrote, “Karennnnnn!!! 😭😭😭❤️❤️❤️.”

The newlyweds’ wedding photographer, Holly Clark, and their wedding planner, Sarah Haywood, also shared a joint Instagram post, which exhibited the same photo of the bride in her Oscar de la Rena number. “What an adventure!” the caption begins. “The Scottish wedding of the gorgeous, insanely talented and fun @karengillan and her hilarious husband...A huge shout out to the dream team who met every challenge with grace and enthusiasm - thank you for keeping the secret all this time… team work really does make the dream work!” She proceeded to add a list of vendors who helped pull the event together. 

Though the couple kept their relationship status private for nine whole months, fans did first begin to speculate that Gillan and Kocher had tied the knot in November of 2022 when she was first spotted wearing a set of rings on her left hand in an Instagram post.
