Astragalus canadensis

Canada milk-vetch

As a rule, plants which support multiple different wildlife species are incredibly valuable when it comes to building a diverse habitat. Canadian milk vetch is one plant which serves as a food source for bees, butterflies, moths, hummingbirds, songbirds, as well as a variety of mammals.

Yes, this one is sometimes eaten by deer and rabbits, however as a legume species it tends to bounce back fairly quickly, and it is rare that deer will eat enough of it to cause damage.

This plant can grow well in a wide variety of soil conditions and provides visual interest both with its creamy flowers as well as leaves, which also work well in cut flower arrangements.

One of the benefits of legume plants is their ability to restore damaged soil as they are able to take up residual toxins from the ground, water, and air.

Plants can be purchased in-person or online (with in-person pick-up).

All online orders will be ready for pick-up 24-72 hours after purchase. You will receive an email to let you know when your order is ready. We kindly ask that you pick-up any orders within one week of purchase.
