Timbaland appeared on Ryan Seacrest‘s syndicated radio show today (Aug. 25) to deny reports that he had attempted suicide. TMZ reports that the producer went missing last night and a police report listed the incident as a “possible suicide attempt,” but Timbaland told “On Air with Ryan Seacrest” that he only decided to “take a drive” and was surprised by the attention.
“I don’t know what happened, to be honest with you,” said Timbaland. “I don’t even know what people are talking about.”
The producer’s family reportedly told police that they grew worried after finding him distraught over the theft of an expensive Jacob & Co. watch, potentially by someone close to him. After Timbaland left his Malibu residence and family members were unable to locate him, they called the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department, which tracked down his Escalade and returned him to his residence.
When asked about the theft of the watch, Timbaland told Seacrest, “[The theft] did happen, but it wasn’t a watch, it was something else… It’s people that’s close to you. So the only thing I did was take a drive to figure out how I was gonna handle it.” He added that the suicide rumors could have stemmed from the fact that he “wasn’t talking, so I guess people got worried.”

Timbaland also said that he first heard the rumor when told by the policeman who pulled him over. “He was like, ‘Man, this is what somebody reported, blah blah blah,’ and I went back,” said Timbaland. “Then I snapped, like, who the freak reported some stuff like that?”
The producer told Seacrest that he is currently in the studio finishing up Keri Hilson’s sophomore album.
