Post Sale Update: After being relisted, this Tri-Magnum sold for $2,225 after 2 bids on eBay.

Billed as a “high-performance three-wheeled sports car”, this Tri-Magnum made its debut on the cover of Mechanix Illustrated magazine in the early 80s. It was the creation of Robert G. Riley Enterprises, a company that offers DIY plans for multiple vehicles and claims to have sold nearly 500k plans around the world.

The Tri-Magnum is specified to utilize a Honda Gold Wing drivetrain and is said to result in a 1,200 pound vehicle that has a power-to-weight ratio of approximately 10.5 pounds/hp. Here’s a bit on a Tri-Magnum that aired on a NBC affiliate:

This example (VIN: AZ319564) has some upgrades, including a BMW K1200LT drivetrain and front suspension from a Ford Mustang 2. The seller built it in 2010 and drove it for 1,800 miles before putting it into storage in 2016. Last year he took it out of storage, added a car tire to the rear, replaced the fuel pump, and fixed some scratches in the paint. Per the seller: “The ideal owner needs to have SOME mechanical trouble shooting skills as this is a one-of-a-kind vehicle. I will supply motorcycle shop manual, receipts, electrical schematic and build info.”
