Often overlooked in the supermini class, the Suzuki Swift has just entered the fourth generation in Europe, with the all-new model replacing the seven-year-old iteration that came to life at different factories all over the Eastern world.
Looking virtually identical to the study that previewed it at the Japan Mobility Show 2023, the new-gen Suzuki Swift was already presented in its home market a month ago, and now it is getting ready to launch locally from December 13, with the first copies arriving in the United Kingdom next spring.
It has a similarly-sized grille, albeit with a different pattern, which is no longer decorated by the company's logo, as it was moved right above it. The new headlamps were positioned further down, and the bumper is significantly bigger. The rear door handles are no longer hidden in the C-pillars. At the rear, the new taillights protrude less into the tailgate, thus making it possible to load and unload larger cargo.
Suzuki also mentions an extended color palette that comprises the new Coll Yellow Metallic and Frontier Blue Pearl Metallic hues. Eight single-tone exterior finishes will be available for the subcompact hatchback, joined by four dual-tone options for additional personalization.

Drivers no longer have to look to the central part of the dashboard to see the infotainment screen, as the new 9-inch touchscreen unit has adopted the tablet-like design and sits further up. The entire dashboard panel is notably chunkier, and the car has new controls for the HVAC system, as well as redesigned buttons all around. Featuring a flat-bottom design, the steering wheel is also new. Stuff such as smartphone integration, Bluetooth connectivity, voice recognition, USB sockets, and so on is included.
The advanced safety gear comprises the Dual Sensor Brake Support II, which uses a millimeter-waver radar and a monocular camera to detect pedestrians, bicycles, and vehicles in front of the vehicle, warning the person behind the wheel of a potential collision and braking if they fail to react. It also comes with the usual lane keep assist, driver monitoring system, lane departure alert, blind spot monitoring, rear-cross traffic alert, traffic sign recognition, and adaptive cruise control.
Powering the all-new Suzuki Swift is a freshly-developed 1.2-liter engine. The gasoline unit has three cylinders, and a mild-hybrid system assists it, complete with a tiny lithium-ion battery. Japan will first get it with a continuously variable transmission (CVT), with the five-speed manual gearbox joining the offering after mid-January 2024. Moreover, the supermini comes with the optional Allgrip Auto, which is an all-wheel drive system that improves traction on slippery surfaces.
Pricing details for the 2024 Suzuki Swift will be announced in due course and will vary from market to market, which obviously won't include the United States. But do you wish they sold it here, too?
