or are they a myth, hoax, joke meant to fool, rip off naive, gullible gringos?
Anyone actually seen one? |
|
Yes....boys town, Nuevo Laredo ~ 20 years ago. No we did not go in.
I guess as I did not actually go to the show they could have been lying......but I don’t think so. |
|
Consider the world we live in....Donkey shows are probably the tame stuff.

In college back in the 90s me and some friends went down to Matamoros to get drunk.
We hit the bars and after getting wasted decided to take a Taxi to boys town. Well, the place reminded me of the bar from Dusk till Dawn. I asked our waiter, "Donde esta LA chica que coje el burro?" He didn't know but offered up a rough looking prostitute. We paid for our beers and left. I guess I'll never know. |

Yes...
I actually felt bad for the donkey. I also go up and left, I will never be drunk enough to witness something like that ever again. Dunno what happens when the donkey gets off, didn’t ask my friends, didn’t want to know. |
|
Thanks for clearing that up!
I can always rely on the real world experiences of GD. |

Fake. If it were common there would be pics and vids all over the internet.

Yes. They are very real (or at least were). I personally saw one in Nueva Laredo around 2002. I went back a few weeks later to verify what I had seen was real. And then I went back again a few weeks later with some more people from my high school (word spread and there was a lot of curiosity) to prove it was real.
When you get to Boystown, just look for the bar with the donkey tied to the hitching post out front. That's how you'll know for sure you're in the right spot. Don't listen to all the other promoters promising Monkey Shows and other nonsense.... Go in, order a few buckets of beer, and wait for it to happen. You might have to endure a few trannies dancing as opening acts, but it will happen. |

1968 I was stationed at MCRD San Diego for a hot minute taking a class.
Half a dozen of us went down to tijuana one weekend. Donkey shows are very real. |

My late grandfather swears he saw one while in media during WW2. He didn’t know what the hell he was going to!

There was a horse show starring "Big Ed" for a while in Washington. Didn't work out too well for his Boeing engineer co-star.

When I was trucking and going to Laredo regularly I seriously thought about taking the tour down to Boys Town to see the show. But from what I heard the donkey had died and there was pressure from the federales for the club not to get a replacement. Similar to the situation in Tijuana back in the 1980s where the donkey shows ended under pressure from the federales, who were getting pressure from animal rights groups in the US.
I'm sure that Mexico being Mexico and sex with animals not being illegal in most of the country, there are probably places where you could find or arrange a donkey show. But given the crime/cartel situation in Mexico you would probably get deaded for being a gringo while going to those places. |

Have you read about some of the shit they've seen on Silk Road investigations? Some of that is absolute stomach-churning-stop-the-planet-I-want-off type stuff. I would be astounded if Donkey Shows weren't a real thing. View Quote |

In the Jack Reacher novel Night School, there was one in Hamburg. Lee Child wouldn't make that up, would he?
