Advice for teeth whitening
I love this product! These can be used for teeth whitening and it works for me. The size of the activated carbon (also called activated charcoal) are pebble size so if you want to use it for whitening your teeth you would have turn it into powder. What I do is buy a grinder to turn it into powder. The grinder that I recommend is the black KRUPS 203 coffee grinder because it has super fast blade that turn the charcoal into powder and also the color of the grinder matches the charcoal.

We use this in our vehicles to absorb any odors that may want to linger from food or athletic gear. Works great and doesn’t have a fragrance. I leave it in my center console with the lid off. My husband has a Tupperware container under each seat with a thick layer of this stuff and holes punched in the lids. Lasts a long time before losing its odor absorbing power. Much cheaper than buying pre-made charcoal sachets marketed for the same purpose and works better than those.

I had read that activated carbon was an efficient method for whitening teeth. I ordered this product quickly and found that it was composed of larger carbon granules; it was my error to not read the description more closely. Granules are not the optimal product for whitening teeth. The granules can work, but as you are brushing, the granules tend to move towards the back of the mouth.

I would recommend using a powder based activated charcoal - read the product description carefully to find the right one. The charcoal that I purchased had an ASIN of B004DHK1KK, but it's currently not available on Amazon so I cannot link to it. It was four ounces of activated charcoal powder. I bought the product in March 2014 and I STILL have charcoal powder.

Does activated charcoal work for whitening? While I did experience some results with this product, I had better results with a powdered charcoal. I feel that combining a powdered charcoal with an occasional whitening strip, combining the powder with a whitening toothpaste , or using the granules and following up with whitening toothpaste provides the best results. Using the powder exclusively has not allowed me to keep my teeth as white as I would like. Of the three combinations noted, I most often brush with the charcoal and then follow up with whitening toothpaste. I engage in this process three times a week.

For powdered charcoal, do not wear anything fancy while brushing. Expect charcoal to remain in bristled. Even after using powdered charcoal at one session; the charcoal can and will drip at a subsequent session. Charcoal can leave black spots on lighter sinks. Usually, it is easy to wipe off sinks, but the charcoal is not so easy to remove from clothes.

I have a 125 gallon tropical fish tank. I put the required amount inside a filter bag or a nylon and tie the end shut. It's easy to use, and a bottle of this goes a long way. You need to rinse it out before you add it to the filter to wash off the black dust. It's easy to use, and I replace it roughly every 4 to 6 weeks. It keeps my water nice and clear. This the only brand that I buy.
