I was looking for a panama-style hat in that color and size that wasn't too floppy or looked cheap. This one is perfect. It's meant to be packable so the material or "weave" is not as delicate as traditional panama hats but it still looks good for the price. It has a slightly wider brim than my other hat, which is what I wanted. I "crushed" it briefly to see if it returned to its normal shape and it did. I will be careful when I pack it and try to avoid crushing it for too long. It came in a box with a plastic mold to keep its shape and a protective cardboard piece for the brim. I'm keeping them to use them if I decide to pack it in a suitcase rather than crushing it.

But my hat size is 7 3/4 or 7 5/8 so I tried ordering large. It only sits on the back of my head like a wide eyed kid going fishing. Going to try a different brand and see if I can get a truly Large size.

I've been wearing straw fedoras for 15 years. I'd buy from the same company, but stopped doing so when they went downhill about five years ago. I cannot tell you how difficult it's been to find a proper replacement. Finally, after five years, this is IT. Absolute PERFECTION, I am over the moon!!! I have a big head so I order the L/XL, it fits perfectly. The crown is comfortable, it does not look weird, and the brim length is as well (3 inches...these are advertised as just shy of, but it works). Do NOT hesitate, the hat is great, the fit is wonderful (no marks on forehead), there is no weird cowboy upturn brim either (another huge defect in other fedoras).

Always a risk buying on Amazon as far as quality is concerned. The vendors tend to be hit or miss. This vendor was a HIT! The quality of the hat was EXCELLENT. I know because I purchased a hat that once cost me 150.00 to protect my face from sun damage. I have malasma so I was willing to make that investment. This hat cost me under 30.00 and will do the exact same being spf and a great fit that will stand the test of time. The packaging was great and it arrived sitting on a plastic blister in the shape of the hat that I decided to keep for storage. This will help keep its shape in the coming years.
