Egon Schiele (1890–1918) was an Austrian painter, draughtsman and pupil of Gustav Klimt. When he left the Viennese Art Nouveau movement, he created his own impressive style, whose mood fits in with European Expressionism. He created provocative nudes in moving poses, portraits of cities and his own likenesses. After his death, G. Klimt was recognised as the head of Viennese artists at the 49th Vienna Art Nouveau exhibition in 1918.
