Barack Obama has arrived in Egypt to deliver a speech aimed at mending American relations with the Arab and Muslim world.
Mr Obama is currently on his way to the Egyptian museum; later he will visit the pyramids.
But the centrepiece of this trip is a speech to be made at Cairo University later this evening.
The speech has had a huge build-up - not just in Cairo, but across the Middle East.
People here are hoping, and expecting, a message of reconciliation from the new president, and a repudiation of the deeply unpopular approach of George W Bush.
But they also want action, especially on the conflict between Israel and the Palestinians.
The White House says Mr Obama will also raise human rights issues with Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak.
